My first trip to east Africa was during an El Niño year. After three years of drought there had been heavy rains, meaning the landscape was green and lush and the animals had a variety of grazing grounds, although this had caused an array of issues for the people living there. I worked there with some incredible people, both from the UK and local Tanzanians, and this team felt like family, it was truly wonderful and great for the soul.
