Slovenia

With beautiful mountains, incredible refuges and forests that span miles, it is hard not to love Slovenia. My first hiking trip here was with some friends doing a hut-to-hut tour in the Julian Alps. We had planned to head up Triglav, the highest point in Slovenia, at the end of the trip but a surprising amount of snow came down overnight and changed our plans so we decided to soak up some culture in Lubljana before exploring the stunning Soča Valley with its turquoise waters.

I will be heading back to summit Triglav as part of my High Points of Europe project, hopefully with my friend and colleague, Mikaela Toczek, who lives in Slovenia and runs More to Explore.
